Missions Emphasis Week: A Faithful Presence in God’s World
From February 2–6, 2026, FPD will observe Missions Emphasis Week, centered on Genesis 12:2 and the theme A Faithful Presence in God’s World. Throughout the week, students in every division will be invited to see God’s heart for the nations and to consider how He calls His people to participate in His global work—both near and far.
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.Genesis 12:2
Upper School students will engage each morning through announcements, prayer, and Bible classes led by faculty and guest speakers with firsthand missions experience. Daily emphases will include missions in England and the United Kingdom, Guatemala and South America, domestic missions in the United States, Native American communities in Washington, and Casa Hogar in Mexico.
Students will pray intentionally for specific regions and needs, hear personal testimonies, and reflect on how missions is not an “extra” to the Christian life, but central to God’s redemptive plan. A student-led missions panel, classroom visits from missionaries Paul Wolf and Jeremiah Pitts, and special chapel and Q&A sessions with guest speaker Innes MacSween will challenge students to think about vocation, calling, and living faithfully in a secular culture.
Lower School students will participate through daily Bible lessons, prayer, and chapel experiences designed to build a foundational understanding of God’s global mission. Students will practice reciting the theme verse, study Scripture passages connected to missions, and learn global snapshot facts that help them see the world through a biblical lens. A Global Missions “Passport” activity will guide students through daily prayer and learning, while missionary chapel visits will bring real-world stories to life.
Guest missionaries include: Paul Wolf, Jeremiah Pitts, and Innes MacSween. Missions Emphasis Week encourages our entire FPD community to remember that God blesses His people so they may be a blessing—faithfully reflecting Christ wherever He places them.
Missions Emphasis Week is held in partnership with First Presbyterian Church’s Global Missions Week. Learn more about the missionaries and the global ministries they serve by visiting https://www.fpcmacon.org/missions.
